Tears Of The Kingdom Lord Of The Mountain Guide

The Lord of the Mountain was one of the rarest mounts in Breath of the Wild. It was also the coolest by quite a wide margin. This majestic glowing beast was an awesome find but wasn’t a practical mount you could keep since you couldn’t register it at a stable. Unfortunately, for anyone hoping that this would now be the case in Tears of the Kingdom, I’ve got some bad news. Let’s get into how Tears of the Kingdom now uses the Lord of the Mountain.

Tears of the Kingdom: Can you tame the Lord of the Mountain?

In Tears of the Kingdom, the role of the Lord of the Mountain is a bit different. You can no longer use it as a mount to explore Hyrule, meaning the Lord of the Mountain cannot be tamed. Instead, this creature serves a different, albeit still useful purpose. Throughout Hyrule, there are pink trees with a rather suspicious bowl in front of them. One of these can be found right at the top of Satori Mountain. If you place a Golden Apple in this bowl, the Lord of the Mountain will appear.

The Lord of the Mountain will briefly appear and cause several shining pillars of light to show up in the distance. These lights are actually pointing to caves which usually contain some great loot. After this short scene, the Lord of the Mountain will disappear. It’s a much shorter appearance than it had in Breath of the Wild, but it’s arguably far more useful here. Tears of the Kingdom has dozens of caves spread out across Hyrule, and it’s tricky to find them all. So it’s very useful to have something like this point you in the right direction.

Now that you know how the Lord of the Mountain works in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll either be intrigued or a little disappointed. But, either way, this still a really useful tool to have. Just make sure you’ve got plenty of Golden Apples to hand, so you can always make use of these pink trees.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
